Kickoff meeting in the English River Watershed to discuss the $97M grant award the state of Iowa received through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – National Disaster Resilience Competition.
This meeting will be an opportunity to meet project partners, learn about the Iowa Watershed Approach (IWA) statewide program, ask questions, and hear about specific watershed details and activities that will be carried out in the English River Watershed over the next five years.
The IWA will work with watershed partners at the local scale to address watershed concerns and improve flood resiliency. A primary activity of the IWA program will be to engage volunteer landowners to implement conservation practices such as ponds, terraces, buffer strips, wetlands, and many others that provide a primary benefit to reducing downstream flooding and a secondary benefit to water quality. Landowners will be eligible to receive up to 75% cost share assistance on such practices as those listed above.
Following the kickoff of the IWA project, the English River Watershed Management Authority Meeting will begin at 7:30pm. Please help us promote the kickoff event and WMA meeting by sharing these details with any interested partners and stakeholders in the watershed.
