Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District

Pond Management Workshop

  • February 01, 2014
  • 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM
  • County Conservation Education Center, Kent Park

Farm ponds, storm water management basins

or borrow pits, can be all great fisheries and awesome

wildlife habitat or they can be a

management nightmare full of weeds and

undesirable insects. This program will assist land

owners and land managers with understanding their

ponds and their pond management decisions. Kate

Giannini, Soil and Water Conservation Specialist

will be on-hand to discuss watershed management

and pond construction. Iowa DNR Fisheries Biologists Paul Sleeper and Chris Mack will present

information on pond habitat, stocking and pond

management issues, including vegetation control,

undesirable fish species, predators, dam integrity

and water quality issues. Registration is requested.

Please call Brad at (319) 645-1011 or email

Brad at  to register or

for more information. Refreshments will be provided.
