Kelly Lucas with the Iowa City School District and Kristin Bergman with Field to Family will give out information and updates on the Longfellow school garden and the Farm to School program.

Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a pilot project in the Longfellow neighborhood.  The Community Meal Project (CMP) aims to promote dialogue within the community about urban conservation, local foods, and social and environmental impacts of food systems.

CMP kicked off this April with events on water conservation and management.   May events will be on gardening, soil health, and other local programs.  Always stay tuned to the website, or our email list for updates on more events throughout the year.

In spring of 2015 we’ll invite neighborhood and city-wide residents to a meal to network and dialogue about these pertinent issues and to celebrate community and food.

For more information on Community Meal Project happenings in the Longfellow Neighborhood and to view a video about the project please visit www.jcswcd.org or contact us at 319-337-2322 x3.

Special thanks to ACT, Inc for providing funding  towards this project.
