Historical accounts about how local creeks obtained their names are based on local “lore” and should be taken with a grain of salt. Additionally, the JCSWCD apologizes for insensitive language used in these historical accounts to describe First Nations communities who lived in Johnson County prior to the arrival of Europeans.
